How do you feel when you read about the war in Ukraine?
How do you feel when you read about the war in Ukraine on the news? How do you feel when you scan the statistics listed down the side of the article you’re reading and realise that as of right now, over 24,000 people have died as a result? Do you realise at 400 people are missing? As of the 12th of April 2022, 11 million are without a home. Over 1,800 buildings have been destroyed which accumulates to £431 billion worth of damage. These figures will have increased by the time you read this. How does this make you feel? Just picture. One day you’re sat in your office, scrolling through LinkedIn or Facebook while absentmindedly drinking from your coffee mug. Little do you know; this is your last moment of normality for who knows how long?
We at KITE feel the losses deeply, and work harder every day to play our part. While we might complain about the rising prices of fuel and steel, what is a £5 increase in the price of your fuel or £100 extra when purchasing steel when we aren’t living under the constant terror that today could be our last? When we haven’t lost our home and possibly loved ones in a violent war that turns our lives upside down? At KITE we are doing everything we can to contribute towards the restoration of peace and normality for the lives of Ukrainians.
When Boris Johnson decides to send Ukraine weapons to support those bravely fighting for their country, who provides security for the transportation? When Boris himself decides to take the train to Ukraine to offer his support to President Zelensky, we like to think we contributed towards his getting safely by enabling safer access to tracks for the track workers to carry out their everyday tasks. These would include routine inspections and maintaining the track ensuring the train has an uninterrupted journey from A to B, in this case from UK to Ukraine. The track workers can safely ensure there are no obstacles in the way or anything hindering the progress of the train due to our bespoke services that provide complete safety and assurance against anything going wrong.
