Recycling steel to save the environment
Did you know that each year over 500 million tones of steel is recycled and reused, this is equivalent to 180 Eiffel towers every day?
Steel is the world’s most recycled construction material. Approximately 40% of all steel production is based on recycled scrap. 86% of structural steel is recycled and used in furnaces. 13% Is dismantled and used again straightaway for new structures. Meaning that only 1% of ALL steel is lost to landfill or rust. Research indicates that when steel is used instead of other construction materials such as concrete it offers a 19% reduction in the CO2 footprint.
